Jade Dorina and baby Maci

Look at this gorgeous interaction between bub and Dad. Beautiful Maci has had both her parents wrapped around her little finger since the second she was born!

It was such a pleasure and honour to be invited into Maci's birth space. It was beautiful to watch Jade nuture and support Dorina as the labour got more and more intese.

One of the most precious memories I have ever taken away from a birth was with this couple. I will never forget Dorina in the bath, low humming and FLOATING through contractions during transition, with Jade supporting her from behind. It was so surreal.

Dorina is only a tiny little thing, but she birthed this baby like an Amazon! She was so determined and focused and had complete belief in her ability to give birth naturally. I'm so proud of you Dors!! Congratulations!!!

And many thanks to Jade for sending me this wonderful reference.

It's great to hear the male's viewpoint of a birth!!!

Tammy was our doula for the birth of our daughter Maci. For most of us men when it comes to childbirth we feel quite helpless, I know I did. It’s surprising how things have changed. Once upon a time the man would be pacing up and down the hallway only to be called into the delivery room once the baby was born. These days we still have no idea what to do, but we are expected to be a little more hands on. So when it came to the birth of our child, I wanted to be as much a part of it as I could and support my wife as much as possible.

Initially when my wife suggested a doula it sounded to me like someone was going to take that little role I thought I had away from me. Oh how I was wrong! Not only did Tammy help us provide a clear and well-organised birth plan she also well informed us of what her role during labour would be, my role and Dorina’s role. Turns out men can play a huge part in the birth of their child.

With Tammy’s vast experience she was able to coach me on what I needed to do so that I could support my wife in the best way possible. She made it possible for me to concentrate on looking after my wife by not having to worry about all the little details. She liased with the doctors and midwives based on the birth plan we had organised earlier. I really felt I could focus on Dorina and help her through her labour. Tammy created very calming atmosphere and was always very reassuring to both of us. She knew exactly what direction to take and when to take it. She had the ability to know exactly when we needed our time as a couple and when to show extra support. I feel it was so important for us to have Tammy with us during the labour.

And it didn’t even end after Maci was born. In fully meeting her role as a highly skilled doula, she continued with support and direction after the birth, helping my wife with breastfeeding and many questions we both had. She was always just a phone call away.

I highly recommend having a doula, especially one like Tammy.

My wife and I have no doubt that having Tammy as our doula was one of the best decisions we made. With her help we were able to have an amazing experience.

If anyone is considering Tammy as their doula and would like to contact someone who has been able to benefit from her services, feel free to contact me anytime on 0412582345. I am more than happy to answer any questions you have.
